A variety of ferns (e.g. hart's-tongue fern, buckler fern etc.) are placed against warm pink backgrounds with the elegant lacy bianco-sopra-bianco technique for border. Bianco-sopra-bianco, Italian for "white on top of white" is a technqiue where cerami pigment is applied on top of a glazed tile, to achieve an opaque layer, often contrasting in colour, as here.
