DRUID DELFT
This autumn, Bible of British Taste and Not Quite Past have collaborated to invent a small run of 'Druid Delft' tiles:
Alternative tiling for a New Age
With Bible of British Taste, we've gathered a set of designs - wild men and green men, unicorns, dolmens, standing stones and leys, sacred oak sprigs and priestly druids - couched in the classic cobalt-blue and white manner of the Dutch Golden Age and fired in Stoke on Trent on our rustic terracotta-base tiles.
£17.99 per tile • 6-tile minimum • 4-5 weeks
Not Quite Past has always been about re‑making the art of older times, looking closely at art history with the help of modern techniques to create new idioms that speak to the present.
We're far from the first people to explore the iconography of deep Celtic antiquity. For centuries, artists and thinkers have interrogated legends of the high priesthood of druidery and natural magick, divining their eternal meaning, mystery - and relevance for modernity.
Put a druid on your bathroom splashback and a row of standing stones behind your kitchen sink? These tiles make ideal pot stands and tableware, gifts presented in a set of three or given singly as small votive offerings to deep time.
